The under 12’s have gone through some transformation over the past year and whilst we had a core group of young lads who had been together for a couple of years, we welcomed 6 new members to the team, taking our squad to 12. The team has gone from strength to strength and enjoy putting up a challenge for any team in the league.
The boys continue to display excellent camaraderie and team spirit. This extends to everyone associated with the team including our supportive and respectful parents, friends and family.
A few of the boys have also represented local academy sides and/or are training with AFC Bournemouth at their ID Centres. Others attend other academy centres so the boys get lots of football during the week.
Subsequently the boys have good technical ability for their age and everyone associated with the team are really looking forward to seeing them develop further this season and will be playing in the BYFL top division this year against some excellent teams.
The team recently were successful in obtaining a new training facility in Bournemouth. The Slades Park facility used by AFC Bournemouth Coaching Academy is used on a Tuesday night from 5-6pm in the winter months. During Spring/Summer months training will be from 5:30-7pm at Bransgore Rec on Tuesday evenings.
BYFL matches are played on Sunday’s in a seven a side format and predominantly kick off at 10am. The boys can be found playing their home games on the ‘Pavillion/ Cricket ground’ side of Burley Road.
The Team is managed by Sammy Percival and supported by Mark Green. Sammy played a good standard of football in the local area for Teams such as Wimborne, Brockenhurst and Christchurch. He still plays as often as he can. He completed his FA Level 1 Coaching Badge in January 2020 and although he has no previous coaching experience prior to 2019, he has an excellent knowledge of the game and also 17 years experience working in Healthcare as a Nursing Professional with 6-18 year olds, so is well equipped to provide the best support to both the squad and their families. Sammy thrives on the development of others and is hugely looking forward to seeing the boys develop both technically and mentally. He is a huge lover of the game and supports Tottenham.
Mark has been a football enthusiast since he can remember, with his Father being a professional footballer with Bristol Rovers, and subsequently thrust into the world of football at an early age, playing Grass Roots football through his childhood with Dexter’s, Grange Athletic and his school team. Mark has fought at amateur boxing level and professional kick boxing, he also holds a brown belt in kung fu, black belt 1st Dan in Jeet Kung do and Jun fan Kickboxing. He has also been involved with professional boxers, helping them prepare for fights with sparring, (in his younger days), training, motivation and working the corners. Mark believes that the experience gained from working the corners has helped him find the right motivational objectives for the team when it’s needed. Mark has been with Bransgore since September 2016 as a parent. He has had an enhanced CRB Check, is safeguarding children certified and completed his FA level 1 and first aid in January 2020.
Jody is a new addition to the team and joins as a new coach/assistant who will be completing his FA Level 1 Goalkeeper training in 2021.
